  1. Are the licensing fees included in our wedding package?
    Yes, all the island fess and taxes are included in the legal (civil) package for the License, Marriage Book, Certified Translation (with apostille) and Stamps.

  2. Some countries require a blood test - do St.Maarten/St.Martin?
    No, a blood test is not required.

  3. Can we get married on the same day we arrive in St.Maarten/St.Martin?
    No, you must be in St.Maarten/St.Martin at least 24 hours before you can get your marriage license and you can’t get married/bless without your marriage license.
    Note: if you’re flying in for the weekend wedding, just be sure to arrive no later than Thursday afternoon. However, we do recommend a 48 hour arrival.

  4. We have photocopies of our divorce papers and birth certificates. Can these be used in the licensing process?
    No, it is very, very important that you send to us the original papers with the Apostille or Authenticated Stamp on it. This is NOT the raised court seal. All legal documents must be Legalized/Notarized and Authenticated. (Please contact us for more information).

  5. Will my legal documents be returned to me?
    Your original documents will be returned to you after the marriage is documented at the governments’ office. Along with your marriage license and translation stamped within 48 hours.

  6. Can my pastor from home perform the ceremony?
    No, only pastors licensed in St.Maarten/St.Martin can perform ceremonies but your pastor may assist.

  7. Can we apply for the marriage license by mail?
    No, both parties must be in St.Maarten/St.Martin where the ceremony must be performed.

  8. Can we bring our bridal flowers with us?
    Not if they are fresh flowers – US Customs (via St.Maarten/St.Martin) won’t allow it. Silk flowers, however, are fine.

  9. Would I be able to use a marriage license from my country?
    Yes, if you are only desiring a religious blessing (ceremony) on the island, you can bring your original license and have a local officiate perform the blessing without the legal (civil) red tape. We are currently planning lots of these commonly called (blessing) it is much easier.

  10. Can we get married on the weekend?
    Yes, but be sure to be in St.Maarten/St.Martin by the Thursday before your wedding so that you meet the overnight residency requirement necessary to get your license. However, Sundays are not available for ceremonies.

  11. Will my Island marriage be legal in my country?
    Yes, the legality of your marriage will be binding worldwide, once you get back home, take the original and certified copy to your city records department.
